I came into politics through the student union and into public office through engineering. Both taught me the same thing. Plans are easy to announce and hard to finish, and people judge you on what they can walk on, drink and send their children to.

When I took office in 2074 the municipality was new and had almost no systems of its own. We spent the first year writing a development plan so that every ward had something to measure its budget against. After that the work was ordinary, which is how it should be. Roads, taps, school repairs, a disaster committee in each ward, and insurance for families who could not pay a hospital bill.

I did not finish everything. The housing project for landless earthquake affected families is still incomplete and the tourism work at Ligligkot has further to go. Those are the things I would pick up again.
